A Night at the opera
October 8th, 2012
Historic Mancos Opera House, Mancos Colorado
It's Sunday afternoon on October 7th, 2012, the band along with Doug Eagle from Eagle Sound are at the Mancos Opera House in Mancos Colorado setting up the band and sound equipment for a performance on Monday evening coordinated by Tami Graham and hosted by KSJD our local community radio station.
Two women walk in with several others streaming in behind them. One of the women asks if there was something going on that Sunday evening, Robert said no, we are setting up for Amy Goodman from Democracy Now who's going to be here tomorrow night to do a book signing for their new book. The woman said "I'm Amy Goodman". What a surprise and treat for the "Big Money" crew!
Monday night approximately two hundred people made a showing for Amy Goodman & Denis Moynihan's book signing of their newly released book "The Silenced Majority". Big Money and The Corporate Citizens opened with "Connect the Dots" off their newly released CD "We The People", followed by a warm welcome to everyone from Tami Graham the coordinator of the event and Jeff Pope of KSJD the host of the event. Next up was co-author of The Silenced Majority, Denis Moynihan who gave an award winning intro to Amy Goodman.
Amy spoke for about an hour and a half about the many topics in their new book and shared many antidotes and stories from her years as a journalist, political interviews and an interview with film maker Michael Moore.
While Amy and Denis signed books, Big Money and The Corporate Citizens returned to the stage and performed once again. They started their second set off with Take The Streets, Empower The People and Burmese Blood one of the songs written by Rich Talbot that was inspired by a segment Amy did on Democracy Now. It was truly a night at the opera, but not your traditional opera!
